Hello, Latgale!

“EPIC”, is how BrainStorm concert visitors described the gig that took place last weekend in Daugavpils. The constant rain during the gig created a special atmosphere and songs that mentioned rain were welcomed with extra cheers. “Tu teici man, ka šovakar nelīs” (“You told me that it wouldn’t rain tonight”) from the song “Pirmais latvietis uz mēness”, became the concert catchphrase.

“What an unforgettable night! Despite being completely soaked, our friends in Daugavpils were happy, singing and united,” said Renārs Kaupers, admitting that the old saying about rain bringing people closer together is totally true.

The heavy rain in combination with the roofless stage was a big challenge for the sound, light and video technicians, but the companies proved that at the end of the day what counts is professionalism. There were no problems during the show and, even though they got drenched, the guest performers also had a wonderful time on the stage. This time, the special guest was Marina Kravets (Марина Кравец), who will also perform at the final concert of the tour in Riga. The composition “Как я искал тебя”, performed by Marina and Renārs, was a big success and the audience wanted to hear it again and again. After the gig, Marina said that this was one of the most heartwarming receptions she had ever had.

The guests of the show in Daugavpils were the saxophonist and jazz artist Deniss Paškevičs, Arstarulsmirus with “Tur kaut kam ir jābūt”, the band Sudden Lights, the BrainStorm Gospel Choir, and the drummer Nellija Bubujanca.

In just a week’s time, in Riga, at the Mežaparks Open-Air Stage, the “Skārda bungu tūre” tour will come to a close with one of the most epic gigs of the whole tour. As announced earlier, at the BrainStorm gig in Riga, the special guests will be the Swedish group The Royal Concept, whose members Povel Olsson and Magnus Nilsson have already participated in the previous gigs of the tour.
